I’ve just found out that there will be direct flights from Cologne-Bonn (CGN) to Sarajevo (SJJ) although I couldn’t locate any scheduled future flight. This means that Sarajevo will be more accessible to the West. Plus, traveling will be faster and cheaper if you buy tickets ahead of time through GermanWings’ promotions .

Last year, I wasn’t able to find any cheap direct flight from US West Coast to Sarajevo so I made a point-to-point trip:

1. SFO to Paris (Continential)
2. Paris - Cologne/Bonn (Germanwings)
3. Cologne/Bonn - Zagreb (Germanwings)
4. Zagreb - Sarajevo (Croatia Bus)

With the added flights, I could have skipped two cities and saved almost a day. However, I had no complaint as I had a chance to visit my friends in Paris and Zagreb.
