Train time table (pdf)

Please keep in mind that the above timetable is by no mean absolutely up-to-date and correct. I put it together sometimes in May 2006. You should always double-check.

Traveling by train in Sarajevo is fairly easy although it's not as popular as buses. Just come to the central train station and ask for further information. There are time schedule for both domestic and international trains. The people at the front desk are helpful too. However, they might not speak English.

Train to and from Sarajevo

Croatia, Zagreb (via Zenica, Doboj and Banja Luka to Zagreb). Croatian Railway: http://www.hznet.hr.

• From Zagreb: Depart daily at 8:57 am. Arrive in Sarajevo at 6:00 pm. The new nigh train leaveing Zagreb at 8:45 pm. arriving in Sarajevo at 05:30 am. the next morning.
• To Zagreb:Daily departure at 10:41 am. Arrive in Zagreb at 7:47 pm.

Croatia, Ploče (to Mostar) Single tickets from Sarajevo to Mostar cost 9.90KM. Students carrying an ISIC cards can get a 30% discount.

• From Ploče:
  1. Depart daily at 6:40 am and arrive in Sarajevo at 10:18 pm, via Mostar at 8:04 pm.
  2. Depart daily at 4:20 pm, arriving in Sarajevo at 8:10 pm, via Mostar at 6:00 pm.
• To Ploče:
  1. Depart daily at 6:25 am, arriving in Ploče at 10:22 am, via Mostar at 8:50 pm.
  2. Depart daily at 6:15 pm, arriving in Ploče at 10:06 pm, via Mostar at 8:40 pm.

Czech Republic: Check the National Timetable Information System for transportation means, schedule from Czech to Sarajevo. This is a super cool website which shows you the nearest departure time, arrival time, means of transportation, trip duration and distance.

Germany: Visit Die Bahn for information on trains departing to and from Germany. Also you can check for schedules on other European journeys.

Hungary, Budapest

• From Budapest: Depart daily at 5:40 am. Arrive in Sarajevo at 5:30 am the next morning. Return ticket is cheaper than a single ticket.
• To Budapest: : Daily departure at 8:30 pm. Arrive in Belgrade at 6:30 am the next morning.

Serbia, Belgrade (via Osijek in Croatia to Belgrade )

• From Belgrade : Depart daily at 3:30 pm. Arrive in Sarajevo at 5:30 am the next morning.
• To Belgrade: Daily departure at 8:30 pm. Arrive in Budapest at 9:40 am the next morning.
